How the index works
Each trade gets a level in each state: normal, seasonal peak, rising or surging. Levels come from active National Weather Service alerts mapped to the trades they drive (freezes to plumbing and water damage, hail to roofing and gutters, heat to HVAC), NOAA storm reports from the last 48 hours, and each trade's normal seasonal curve. It shows where demand is likely to rise; it is not a count of calls.
