Google Local Services Ads are moving into Performance Max. What contractors should do
Pay-per-lead is going automated: less manual control, no manual disputes. Here's a short plan.

Google is folding Local Services Ads into Google Ads as a Performance Max campaign with a pay-per-lead goal. Testing began in August 2026 with a wider U.S. rollout later in the year.
What's changing
- Manual cost-per-lead bidding goes away; Google's automation sets the bids. Digital Applied
- Manual lead disputes were already removed in 2024, and reported credits fell sharply after that.
- Historical campaign reports don't migrate to the new campaign type.
A short plan for the switch
- Export your LSA history now: leads, booked jobs and cost per job by service and area.
- Track booked jobs, not leads: feed real outcomes back so automation learns what a good lead is.
- Don't rely on one channel: add a source you control, priced per qualified call in your own ZIPs.
- Watch demand, not just budgets: storms and freezes move volume more than bid changes. Check the Demand Index weekly.
